16. Dead Island 2

Platform: PC PS4 Xbox One PS5 XSX|S
Release Date: April 21, 2023

Epicgames | Playstation | Xbox

Most of us believed that Dead Island 2 would remain in development hell. The Dead Island sequel took years to complete, and several development studios were involved at different points. Thankfully, though, Dambuster Studios was able to release this game, and now we can slaughter an endless number of undead zombies. For those who are unaware, Dead Island 2 takes place a few years after the events of the first game. Similar to the first game, players can choose from a variety of characters, each of which has special qualities. You are then thrust into the state of California, which is currently under quarantine. After a fresh outbreak of zombies, the populace must travel to an extraction location in Los Angeles. Before long, you become immune to the zombies; perhaps the secret to healing lies in your blood. In the hopes of being rescued, you will now have to melee your way through an endless variety of zombies. It’s important to highlight the FLESH system Dambuster Studios used in this game if you appreciate slaying the undead. This technology can imitate different hits and display damage to the skin, muscle, and bone. Hopefully, you won’t be scared of a little—and by little, we mean a lot of blood!

15 Back 4 Blood

Platform: PC PS4 Xbox One PS5 XSX|S
Release Date: October 12, 2021

Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood is a spiritual continuation of their Left 4 Dead series. You may therefore anticipate what to expect from Back 4 Blood if you are familiar with that franchise. In essence, it’s a first-person shooter zombie game where the disease has wiped out most of humanity. As a Cleaner, players assume the role of a survivor. In a made-up community, these people want to eradicate the undead while ensuring the safety of the populace. There is one little distinction between this game and the Left 4 Dead series, though. We will have a card system in Back 4 Blood. In the game, players can gather cards and use them to enhance their character’s abilities in many areas, like damage, endurance, and health. However, the enemy’s undead swarm can be strengthened in the game using the same card system, which could make a game session a little more difficult.

You’re in luck if you’ve been unable to obtain a PS5 or if you’re content to use your PS4 till it breaks! Why? Since many well-known developers are releasing their AAA games on last-generation systems in addition to those for next-generation ones. The most recent remake of Resident Evil 4 is a prime example.
You may still enjoy seeing Leon S. Kennedy return to action and trying to defeat the monsters that inhabit a little Spanish hamlet even without the PS5’s hardware.
This remake differs from previous versions in a number of ways, one of which is the increased difficulty of the gameplay!

8. 7 Days To Die

It’s possible that 7 Days To Die is a hidden gem. The focus of the game is survival, and it involves creating, overseeing, and eventually getting ready for a major conflict that is going to happen. In order to develop a structure, participants in this game must scrounge for resources and monitor their vitals. It’s critical to maintain your building fortified and prepared for the horde of zombies that will suddenly descend upon the area. In essence, 7 Days To Die is a wave-based game, but the best part is that you can play it with friends, supporting one another as you battle the army of zombies.

7. TellTale Games The Walking Dead Definitive Series

We have no choice but to suggest Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead if you’re looking for a zombie game with a strong plot. This is a narrative-driven game where exploration and QTEs are the primary gameplay mechanics. In this game, players take on the role of Clementine, a young child who is stuck during the zombie apocalypse. The majority of this game is based on the player selecting multiple routes that change the story in different ways. The Telltale Games The Walking Dead Definitive Series covers the entire series of video games, despite the fact that it has been around for a while and includes several titles. It’s likely that you liked the games and never got around to finishing them. You will receive the complete story along with some improvements in this edition.

6. Resident Evil 3 Remake

Capcom continued the remake tradition with Resident Evil 3 after the highly popular release of Resident Evil 2 Remake. Given that it takes place at the same time as Resident Evil 2, this game could be played before the latter. In the game, players assume control of Jill Valentine, several months following the events of Resident Evil. In order to legally bring Umbrella Corporation to justice, Jill has been searching for more information about the corporation. When a zombie outbreak strikes the city one night while she is lounging in her Raccoon City apartment, all hell breaks free, causing panic and havoc in the streets.
And to top it all off, a brand-new bioweapon has been released to find and eliminate any surviving members of STARS who were at the mansion in the first game. Jill is now forced to leave the city in order to investigate the Umbrella Corporation further. The general gameplay principles of Resident Evil 2 Remake are also present in this game. Along with managing the area’s limited resources and solving puzzles, players will be exploring it. Though you will still be exploring, this game is a little shorter than the previous ones, so instead of large, complex regions like the Police Station or the house from the first installment, you will find smaller set pieces to truly explore.

5. Dying Light

Another zombie computer game, Dying Light, was created by the same people that created Dead Island. In comparison to Dead Island’s vibrant and colorful universe, Dying Light presented a more desolate setting for combat. In this game, players assume control of Kyle Crane, a guy entrusted with breaking into a quarantine city that has been contaminated with a virus that resembles zombies. Compared to Dead Island, this game differs significantly in two key ways.
Running and vaulting off of buildings will be essential for navigating the city because the development team decided to make it easy for players to parkour throughout the map. This will also be your means of escape because one of the game’s features is that the zombies become much more aggressive at night, making it harder to actually defend yourself. The development team has been working on a sequel to this game because it was so successful. Nevertheless, a release date for Dying Light 2 has not yet been determined as of the time this description was written.
4. Days Gone

Four Days Gone is a SIE Bend Studio exclusive game for the PlayStation 4. In the post-apocalyptic world, the game centers around Deacon, a former member of a bike gang. A zombie-like virus breaks out in the globe, and Deacon, trying to flee the onslaught of undead zombies, loses his wife in the turmoil. Ever since, Deacon has been spending his life with his best friend, doing odd jobs for various factions to earn money and modify his motorcycle.

But he keeps looking in the hopes of piecing together what transpired when he last broke up with his wife. Though completing some of these requests may prove challenging, there is always a need for assistance in this realm of zombies. The scale of the hordes that may be seen in Days Gone is one of the things that sets the game apart; even if you manage to come across a horde of zombies in the wild, it will be hard for you to defeat them all.

3 Resident Evil HD Remastered

While many fans of the original Resident Evil game have liked it, many more have not had the opportunity to play it. Resident Evil has served as an inspiration for other video game games. It was a pleasant surprise when Capcom decided to produce a remake for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, given the game’s considerable success since its original release. The new HD remastered version that is accessible on current-generation systems is based on that remake. This is a classic survival horror video game, thus it can put off some prospective gamers.

In this game, players take control of a special police unit entrusted with the mission of tracking down a different missing task force group. In the end, their search lands them in an old mansion where it’s obvious that an experiment gone awry. Now that zombies have taken over the estate, gamers must investigate the intricate interior design to learn more about what’s going on. As previously indicated, this is still a classic survival horror game, so in addition to exploring, you’ll have to solve puzzles and deal with extremely scarce supplies. You shouldn’t enter expecting to see zombie brains everywhere. Rather, you will have to pay close attention to your health, your ammo levels, and the whereabouts of specific regions on the map.

2 Resident Evil 2 Remake

Capcom took a long time to produce a Resident Evil 2 experience that was comparable to the first Resident Evil remake and even the enhanced editions. The two protagonists of Resident Evil 2 Remake are Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. They both happened to be traveling toward Raccoon City; Claire had been searching for her brother Chris Redfield, who had gone missing, and Leon was a rookie police officer beginning his first day at the Raccoon Police Station. Not a good start as they are separated during their trip into town when a horde of zombies charges at them. The two are now stranded in Raccoon City and must battle their way out in the hopes of discovering a way out.

There are a lot of similarities between this game and the first Resident Evil game. In addition to exploring the region and managing their stuff, players will be searching for clues and solving puzzles. The nicest part is that Resident Evil 2 Remake is a rather lengthy game if you’re looking for something that will take some time to finish. It’s your standard old school survival horror experience. It is noteworthy that players can choose to play as Leon or Claire in this title. To see the whole ending, though, you will have to play them both. While you may visit some of the same locations, it will be for different reasons or because of the persons you meet throughout the journey, as their storylines differ.

1. The Last of Us Remastered

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us garnered such a large fan base after its PlayStation 3 release that the game studio was fast to create a remastered version for the PlayStation 4 immediately after the war. Although the virus in this game resembles zombies really closely, it doesn’t officially feature any zombies, so don’t be too hard on me for adding it to the list. In this game, users assume control of Joel, a man attempting to make ends meet in a post-apocalyptic world by taking on odd jobs. With most of the world in disarray, people have fled to safe havens that are governed by certain groups or authorities in the government.

Joel does, however, receive a new assignment one day that calls for him to drive a young girl across the nation. It’s a difficult trip with many highs and lows. There will be antagonistic human groups vying for whatever resources you may have, as well as a variety of other species hoping to spread the illness even farther. Even so, players engage in a narrative-driven journey where they must overcome insurmountable obstacles. When this game ends, you’ll be itching to start The Last of Us Part 2, the next installment.
